Holiday Luncheon and Ornament Exchange

2:28 PM

Our branch decided to enjoy a Holiday Luncheon and Ornament Exchange on Saturday in lieu of our December meeting and what fun we had! Hosted by Wind Harvest Farms in Henry, Nebraska we were spoiled with homemade meal that was as delicious as it was beautiful!

On the menu was a fresh green salad with sprouts, carrots, and tomatoes and buttermilk blue cheese dressing; butternut squash soup with homegrown ingredients and cinnamon sugar croutons; thumbprint sugar cookies with homegrown raspberry jam; and strawberry pretzel salad with homegrown strawberries!

Diane and Jeff, owners of Wind Harvest Farms, were an absolute delight and took wonderful care of us throughout the event.

After lunch, we played a game to decide who was awarded which ornament - President Linda Day read the story The Night Before Christmas as we sat in a circle. Whenever she said "right" or "left" we moved our goodie bag in that direction. It was a crack up and lots of huffing and puffing resulted from the fast change ups!

The ornaments ranged from live air plants in a clear glass bulb and vintage family wagons to jolly Santas and caroling choir singers. Mysteriously, each ornament found its perfect home!

Afterward, we gathered for an official group photo of most of the branch! Maybe next time we'll get us all!

Back Row: Sherrill, Dee, Susan, Linda
Middle Row: Deb, Madelon, Jeri, Jaymee
Front Row: Suella, Gail, Alice

Have a wonderful holiday season and safe travels to you and yours!

    1. It was such a wonderful time and the food was amazing! Janet did an excellent job setting this up for us - it's too bad she's off gallivanting around in England to have enjoyed the fruits of her labors. Oh well, I'm sure she is making well up for it!

  3. What a wonderful way to complete our first full year of being together as the Torrington-Wheatland Branch! What better way to celebrate! The Wind Harvest Farms provided awesome food and a cozy setting; conversations between like-minded members were heartwarming; and the ornament exchange was ... well in Okie terms... was a hoot! I had so much fun!

I can't wait to see what the next year brings and the strides we make together to empower women in our area and across the nation!

    Happy Holidays!
