AAUW is a wonderful organization and I am truly proud to join my friends as a member. I have been blessed to have a long career in public service and educational administration—I am an accountant at heart. 

My hobbies are many and center mainly around music, art, and education. However, I do enjoy people and the opportunity to interact as much as the individual creative process. I am looking forward to traveling more in the future and the next big trip will involve fulfilling a promise made to my wife that we will someday visit France.

Today we hosted our second book sale fundraiser in conjunction with the Eastern Wyoming College Library's Freudian Sip. It's finals week here on campus, so traffic was high and students were in need of reading material for the holiday break coming up. Our tables provided books of a variety of genres such as fiction, murder mystery, crime, cooking, health, self-help, religious, historical, children's, coffee table anthologies, and poetry!

A huge "Thank You!" goes out to Madelon and Jeri who worked the tables from 9AM to 1PM. As well as Alice, Sherril, and Oliver who donated more books to the cause. This was another great success for our branch and proceeds will go toward future branch events such as membership drives, meetings, and community events.

If you have any books you'd like to donate for our next sale in the spring and live in the Torrington/Wheatland area, we gladly accept donations! However, we are not accepting textbooks at this time.

I hold an Associate Degree in General Studies from Umpqua Community College in west central Oregon and am currently taking classes through the University of Wyoming for a Bachelor of Science in Geology. I have intentions of pursuing this degree until the end of the education road which means I fully understand I'll likely be spending the entirety of my thirties in school. 

I'm a writer of contemporary literature, women's fiction, children's stories, reviews, and poetry. My debut novel, Dust, is scheduled to be released March 2nd, 2016 via Tirgearr Publishing. I love to read - I have a few favorite modern authors, but I tend to stick to fiction works published between 1880 and 1920. Westerns and mysteries with a touch of romance litter my book shelves. 

I love to travel and explore. You’ll see me out writing the landscapes of Wyoming, camping, or hiking. This summer I’m headed to Greece ready for adventure and eager for some good food!

The reason I joined AAUW was because the mission truly speaks for itself. AAUW is breaking barriers for women every day through research and legal means. It’s a great organization that strives for equality for all people and presents it in such a way that the rights of one group aren’t taken away to be given to another. And that’s a mission I can get behind!

In an effort to build our branch's bank account our members collected and donated books from various genres for a book sale which ended with successful results!

Paired with Eastern Wyoming College's Freudian Sip in the library, the book sale offered over 200 books to the public at discounted prices. Our genres crossed the full scope from fiction and non-fiction into poetry, cooking, children's, and history. C.J. Box was a popular author - his books flew off our shelves!

Coffee and donuts were offered to passersby and an AAUW video played on a laptop for those interested in more thorough information on the importance of speaking up against the gender pay gap inequality and women's rights. 

For a short period around lunch time we even set up a table in "The Corner" by the cafeteria. We were able to engage many students on their way to lunch and strike up lively conversations!

The Membership Committee would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to those who participated by working the tables, speaking with students and faculty, and representing AAUW in a respectful and positive way. This event has been our branch's most successful membership drive to date.
